Working out at home may have it’s challenges but relentless distractions don’t have to be one of them! Here are some simple tips to help you avoid being distracted while working out at home.
- Create a Dedicated Space: Designate a specific area in your home for working out. This doesn’t mean you have to have a Pinterest worthy super perfect and expensive home gym. Just find a space that is clutter-free where you can concentrate on your exercises with limited distractions.
- Set a Schedule: Just like you would for a regular gym session, establish a workout schedule. Set specific times for your workouts, and stick to them as closely as possible. Consistency helps train your mind to focus during those dedicated hours!
- Silence Your Devices: Turn off or silence your phone and any other electronic devices that are not essential for your workout. Notifications and incoming calls can quickly set you off course and make your workouts longer and less effective.
- Plan Your Workouts in Advance: Have a clear plan for your workout before you begin. Knowing what exercises you’ll do and in what order can prevent you from getting sidetracked or wasting time trying to decide! My 6 week Dumbells & Bands Plan is perfect for those who want a workout plan and schedule to follow at home – follow me on instagram to see when my next challenge is!
- Music or Guided Workouts: If you enjoy listening to music while working out, create a playlist in advance. Alternatively, follow guided workouts or online fitness classes that keep you engaged and motivated. See my guided workouts here.
